There are more and more resources out there for Catholic catechesis and catholic homeschooling than there was even 5 years ago. While it’s great that there are more options, it can make weeding through them to select the curriculum that is best for your family a little more tricky.

(Level one is aimed towards 1st – 3rd graders.) Both books are perfect for the whole family to enjoy together and an excellent way to start your homeschool mornings.
There are 72 lessons so you can do a simple schedule of 2 lessons per week for the standard 36-week school year or stretch it out over the course of the entire year if you choose.
I love that this curriculum has a heavy focus on both the call to a relationship with God as well as sound doctrinal exposure and explanations. To “follow Him” is both an act of the heart and ascent of the will, something that is so important for children this age group to learn.
The resource is open-and-go, so there is little preparatory work for parents. At the same time, there is lots of room for parents to tailor the content to their family’s liturgical preference, family devotions, and charisms.

Spirit of Truth – Sophia Institute

Our Holy Faith – Tan Books
Grades K – 8
Give your child a solid foundation in the faith with the acclaimed Our Holy Faith series of religion textbooks. Our Holy Faith has long been a great orthodox resource for families looking to impart the truths of the Catholic faith to their children. Now, these beautifully re-typeset TAN Books editions have been revised to include modernized language and updates to the practices of the Catholic Church and enhanced with additional content, including further explanations of core concepts and relevant quotes from the Bible, the saints, and the Catechism.
But catechesis is only half the battle; we also want our children to be holy. The Our Holy Faith series aims to engage your children spiritually as well as intellectually with various activities provided in the “For Me to Do” sections of each lesson. Spirit of Truth Sacramental Preparation
Personally, I have found the Spirit of Truth sacramental preparation programs to be the best. They provide you with teacher-written, classroom-tested lesson plans to prepare your students for receiving the sacraments.
