Lenten Resources

How are you preparing for Lent?
Lent begins Wednesday, Feb 22nd, and is a great opportunity to dive deeper into scriptures and the faith!

We started Catechism in a Year with Father Mike Schmitz on January 1st and I can’t tell you how much I am LOVING IT!
For Lent, we will continue to stay caught up with CIY as a family (we listen to the podcast over dinner) and will also continue our Catholic Catechesis for homeschool from Into The Deep for daily lessons.

💜PRAY💜
Praying together as a family is so important for fostering a deep love of God. We will be reading these books and resources for prayer:
- Oremus Latin Prayers for Young Catholics by Katie Warner (RAISINGWILD-15 for 15% off!)
- How To Pray The Rosary cards from Catholic Family Crate
- Pray For Us by Meg Hunter-Kilmer (NEW!)
- Chews Life Rosary Bracelets
We will be keeping an ongoing list of prayer intentions posted too.
💜FAST💜
Choosing something to give up for lent as a family can be a rewarding practice. Things you might consider are giving up sweets/desserts, eating out/takeout, or processed foods. Traditionally, Catholics abstain from meat on Fridays. (I highly recommend getting a copy of The Lenten Cookbook from Sophia Institute – more on this later!)
💜GIVE💜
Decide on something you can do as a family for someone else. Either find an organization to raise money for, cook a meal for someone, visit an elderly home, or declutter your house and donate 1 bag every week during lent.

Lenten Resources from Holy Heroes

One of the traditions many families have taken up during lent is praying the Stations of the Cross. Being able to pray the Stations of the Cross at home through Lent is a beautiful habit for family devotions.
Holy Heroes now offers stunning Stations of the Cross posters that allow you to bring Sacred Art into your home in an affordable way. This set of 14 posters are on heavy cardstock and are quite large. You can hang them across your dining room wall or even up the wall of your stairwell.
While stopping at church to pray the Stations of the Cross is amazon, it can be quite a struggle to accomplish! Being able to do the Stations of the Cross at home with your children is easier than ever thanks to Holy Heroes.
